The Big Friendly Read…with photography!

We love a fun photography project!

So when Jane Purdie of the Welsh Libraries Audience Development Team asked to use our photography skills at the launch of The Big Friendly Read (#TheSummerReadingChallenge), we “snapped up” the opportunity!

We love encouraging all types of learning here at Tantrwm and think The Big Friendly Read is a great way to get children enthusiastic about reading. Its also a great way for people to help celebrate 100 years of the world’s favourite storyteller Roald Dahl!

With the room full of eagerly awaiting children (and adults!) at Glynneath Library, we got to work with our photography skills by taking shots of poet and author, Mike Church, who had the audience captivated with lots of fun and games. Kirsty Williams AM, Cabinet Secretary for Education, then settled the room down, by reading an excerpt from Roald Dahl’s book “George’s Marvellous Medicine“.

ITV Wales were there to cover the story for their news programme that evening, and included children and parents that attended the event. Also, a selection of press photos were ready immediately after the event for sending out with the press release

We’d like to thank all the children and staff at the library for making this such an enjoyable experience!
